Melbourne’s legendary ethical porn producer, Feck, has concluded its first erotic art show. The event was part of the Melbourne Fringe Festival and by all accounts was a huge success. The winner was a popular choice – a video entitled “Nose Job” by a woman who works under the pseudonym of “Jack Darling”. The three top prizes all went to women, with the runners up being B. Mae and Linsey Gosper both for photographic works.

The awards ceremony was an awesome night with over 400 people turning up to see the art, plus live performances including a piece by Brisbane artist Amanda Wolf that finished with an explosion of glitter and naked bodies. A nude flash mob was an unexpected late entry by an anonymous artist, and curiously few of the mobsters bothered to re-clothe. In fact many of the guests decided to join them, until a fair proportion of people in the place were naked for most of the night!

The art was extremely diverse, from the comical, to the explicit and the bizarre. Many people praised the gallery space and the professionalism of the show. Many of the first time artists were thrilled to see their work in a competitive setting.

Word is that Feck is now looking at making it an annual event – if they can ever get the glitter cleaned up from the first one.
