At the beginning of February, Sky News Australia posted an online article reporting an adult store in South Australia had been raided. The article claimed that over 800 X-Rated films had been confiscated by the police. Sky News incorrectly attributed an image of a Club X store to the story, despite the fact that Club X were not the store that was raided. After making a few phones calls, Eros discovered this week that the store that had been raided was not a member of Eros, despite having operated in the industry for over 20 years. This highlights an early success of the Operation Lock Out campaign we updated members on in the last edition of the e-news. With the Classification Branch unable to gain entry to any Eros member stores, we would expect that the Education and Compliance Officers to focus solely on non-member stores, as was the case here.
