As reported in the August edition of the Eros eNewsletter, The Conversation has published an interesting article questioning whether porn is addictive. While problematic porn consumption is currently classified as a form of compulsive sexual behaviour disorder, it is not formally recognised as an addiction by major diagnostic systems. Growing research suggests it can share features with behavioural addictions, however, feelings of being “addicted” can also arise from moral or religious conflict rather than a genuine loss of control. While inconclusive, this is an extremely informative read and was The Conversation’s most read article for the week ending 18 July 2026. The Conversation
